5 Women’s Equality Day Must Haves

What’s up, Boujee Bosses, we are back with more tips! Women’s Equality Day is coming up on this Wednesday, August 26th, so I’m sharing some suggestions on how to celebrate this special day! Just giving a little backstory, Women’s Equality Day was established in 1973 to commemorate the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. For those that need a little reminder, the 19th Amendment prohibits the government from prohibiting citizen’s voting rights based on gender. Now that you have more clarity on the subject matter, let’s jump right into five ways you can celebrate Women’s Equality Day!

Sign Women’s Equality Day petition to make it a National Holiday

Even with all the progress we’ve made over the years, Women’s Equality Day is still not a national holiday. Isn’t that crazy?! Click the link above to sign the petition and get closer to our goal of national recognition. Make sure to share the link with other friends as well!

Read and Spread Awareness about Winning the Vote: The Triumph of The American Suffrage Movement

This is one of the most monumental pieces in sharing the background story of the not only Women’s Quality Day, but the Women’s Suffrage Movement as a whole. For all my bookworms, read the book and then lend it to a friend. Make sure it’s in your local libraries, give a review about it on you blog or socials. Spread the word!

Donate to a Women’s Rights Organization

There are far too many organizations to name, but a good place to start in regard to finding the perfect Women’s Rights organization for you to share your contributions with is right here. If none of those resonate with you, there are plenty others to choose from, just simply search “women’s rights organizations to donate to” on google, and research away!

Spread Awareness about Women’s Equality Day on Social Media

Social Media has become the most popular medium to spread awareness, not only because of it’s ease of use, but because of the state of the world within the last six months or so. Jump on an Instagram live with a women’s rights activist, put the petition I mentioned earlier in your bio, start a new hashtag movement, social media is your oyster!

VOTE!

This is by far the most important suggestion on this list. We see how detrimental of a place the government is in right now and by default, our nation. This entire day was created to celebrate Women’s voting rights, so let us not allow all our ancestors work to be done in vain. Register if you haven’t already and get out to those voting polls. The future of our nation is in our hands.

I hope this list was helpful to you! Let me know how you plan to celebrate Women’s Equality Day in the comments below and on our social media pages!
