Welcome to The Melanin Perspective, Sis!
My name is Khala Simmons (Pronounced Kayla, not Ka-holla, smh) and I’m from Columbia, South Carolina! I’m 22 years old and a recent college grad. I have a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Mass Media! Writing has always been a strong skill and passion of mine, I just never knew how I would use it. God gave me the vision of a self-development empire that caters to Black Women in 2018, but I didn’t know what all that would entail, so I left the idea alone for a while. Then everything changed. It was on that faithful day of February 17, 2019 that my passion and my vision became one! And yes, I know the exact date because I have a journal that’s very official where I date literally every entry. After months of research, writing content, and a lot back and forth getting the logistics together, The Melanin Perspective finally launched on July 27, 2019!
I am sharing my journey with Mental Health, Emotional Intelligence, and Physical Well-being. This is my public diary, my safe haven, and hopefully it will become one for all of you, as well. I am so excited to be shining a spotlight on these topics, and I pray that me sharing my perspective will prompt not only open-ended discussions on your end, but progressive action as well.
