10 Must Have Natural Hair Products!

What’s up guys, we’re back with more Boujee Boss hacks! Today we’re talkin’ HAIR, and I couldn’t be more excited!! As a Naturalista, I know how hard it can be to find quality products, and while I love how diverse natural hair can be, the variety hair types aren’t any help. I’ve been natural for a little over four years, and it has been a journey trying to figure out what works for me, but I’ve finally got a good foundation. Let’s see what they are!

Mane Choice shampoo and Conditioner

Listen, Linda, listen! This is such a game changer it doesn’t make any sense. My mom first bought these products towards the beginning of my natural hair journey when I ran out of products. It was the first shampoo/conditioner in my possession that was crafted specifically for black hair, and it showed. Now, Mane Choice is a bit on the pricey side, but it’s soooo worth it. Just like beauty hurts, natural hair maintenance is expensive. I retained a lot of length and moisture, plus it smells really good. Get it down below:

African Pride 2-1 Shampoo Conditioner

I literally just bought this last month on whim before I got my box braids installed because I ran out and was in a rush. I had heard of 2-1 shampoo conditioners before, but never used it, which is very surprising now that I think of it. This may come as a shock to some of you, and I don’t need the hair gurus coming for me, but I tend to be a bit lazy on wash day. Ugh, I know, I know, I’ll do better. Anyway, it doesn’t do what Mane Choice does, but it’s great for convenience! It’s also very affordable for what it does, so cop here:

Cream of Nature Moisturizer

Ain’t nobody got time for dry hair! It needs some moisture and not just from water. This is a must have for all the naturals. If you use it for nothing else, it is needed for post wash use at the least. I’m not going to spend a bunch of time on this because it’s pretty self- explanatory how much this product impacts the health of your hair. So, go ahead and click the link to get right:

Cantu Coconut Curling Cream

Can somebody say twist out?! Sis, if you want a good twist out, this curling cream is literally the holy grail of products. When I say it’s this is the only natural protective style aid that can be used as a standalone, I mean that thing. You need nothing else, your twist out will come out bomb (if you let it dry down) every time, and don’t get me started on the shine and moisture! Enough said, y’all need to make a quick purchase if you don’t have this in your product box:

Ebin Edge Tamer

Soooo, my edges be so disrespectful. I can’t control it, it’s just a downfall of having think hair, I guess. I have tried too many different gels and edge controls to count (sending a special finger to eco styler), until I discovered ole faithful at the front counter of the beauty supply store. When I say this gets my 4c edges all the way together? I mean it really gasses me, having me out here thinking I’m a 4b or something. Now please don’t misunderstand me, I think the ladies who liked less tamed edges are just as beautiful, this is just my preference. So, for those like me, check it out below:

Edge Booster Pomade

This is one of my newer discoveries, having needed it in my product supply as a hair stylist for Columbia Fashion Week earlier this summer. I was hesitant when I saw that it took on more of a jam form, because we don’t have a good history, but was thoroughly surprised with the results! Like edge tamer, you don’t need a lot for application and it’s long lasting. However, the pomade actually feels lighter than the edge tamer. I would recommend this to everyone because it lays your edges down without feeling somewhat tight. Purchase some here:

Dark and Lovely Jam

Now this is the real ole faithful because this brand has been a staple in black households everywhere for years. I admit, I drifted away when I first went natural in pursuit of jumping on the eco styler bandwagon, but when that fizzled out severely, I had to find an alternative. When it comes to ponytails, I always have to use multiple products because my hair is so thick. I learned about the layering secret for the thick-haired lovelies on YouTube, and I saw a lot of them using jam like products. And I happened to see my old friend during a beauty supply run, so we reconciled and having been rocking ever since. Paired with my edge tamer or pomade, this combo lays my ponytails and other protective styles. Gone head and get reacquainted, sis:

Jamaican Black Castor Oil

This may not be completely related, but have y’all ever had a sew-in installed, and then your scalp start itching profusely afterwards? Lol, I’ve literally taken two different sew-ins out in a two-week time period for this reason alone. I feel like our scalps are one of the most neglected parts of hair, which is unfortunate because it’s also one of the most important hair features. The install I got for my birthday earlier this year was the first time I ever got any sort of scalp treatment other than hair grease and man does it make a difference! This is a must have nourishment product, it’s almost equivalent to what water does for living organisms. And it makes your hair grow like crazy, so you gotta buy it:

Revlon One-Step Dryer

I first saw a review of this product on Chizi Duru’s channel and was baffled. You mean to tell me there was a blow dryer and paddle brush in one?! Anyone who’s gone through the struggle of trying to dry a bunch of shrunken tangles knows how much of a big deal this is. It’s so amazing for stretching your hair, which is always needed for me, as I do a lot of protective styles. The time convenience and results are worth your coin:

Hot Beauty Flat Iron

In a world of elaborate flat irons, I’m grateful for my plain and simple, but consistent accomplice. I’ve had this flat iron since high school, and although I haven’t used it on my real hair in 3 years, I love it dearly. It’s bomb for straightening and curling your installs, and even getting some of those synthetics together (ahh, my quick weave days). Purchase here:

I hope this was helpful to you guys! I also recognize that these may not all work with your hair, but if at least one does, I’ve done what I set out to do. Stay fly beautiful people, I’ll catch ya later!
